For the second year running, I had the pleasure of joining the Creative Mile as an artist. My setup included an open studio displaying my prints and books, alongside a mobile photo station where I captured portraits of the attending artists, festival visitors, and volunteers.
I ended up meeting more than 40 people over the course of the event. What made the shoots truly unique—and incredibly interesting—was that I did not direct every image myself; instead, the subjects held the remote control and decided exactly when the picture would be taken. This setup was perfect for capturing dynamic moments, like jumps or candid bursts of energy.
However, I discovered something even more powerful: people who are engaged in this process take complete ownership of their images. They were noticeably less camera-shy than usual. It was a deeply rewarding experience that highlighted how much connection and confidence can bloom when people are given agency over their own story.
Thank you to everyone at Creative Mile 2026 for such an inspiring day.
